La solidarité permet de changer le quotidien de familles entières. Depuis Kinshasa, la jeune congolaise Sandy Rubuye a tenu à faire son possible pour apporter son aide à l’Est du pays d’où elle est originaire. Grâce à une partie de l’argent qu’elle a récolté, la Fondation Panzi et le Centre Olame ont signé un contrat en novembre 2019 qui s’est traduit par des actions concrètes sur le terrain : La construction et la réhabilitation de plusieurs maisons à Katana, Kabamba, Kalonge et Bunyakiri. A ce jour, 5 maisons de bénéficiaires du projet d’« Appui aux Personnes Rendues Vulnérables par les Violences Sexuelles en Période de Conflits Armés » de la Fondation Panzi ont été réhabilitées ou construites de fond en comble. Cinq familles bénéficient désormais d’un toit sécurisé et protégé.Madame Solange est l’une des bénéficiaires du projet. À 32 ans, cette maman de 4 enfants a plusieurs fois survécu à l’horreur. Son cauchemar commence avec le groupe armé de Bedi Mobuli Engangela, connu sous le nom de “Colonel 106 », qui a sévi au Sud Kivu entre 2005 et 2007. Ensuite, son mari se fait assassiner en 2013. Originaire du territoire de Shabunda, Madame Solange est contrainte de fuir, elle devient alors une déplacée de guerre et se retrouve à Bunyakiri. C’est à ce moment là qu’elle est prise dans le programme de la City of Joy à Bukavu. La City of Joy permet à des femmes entre 18 et 30 ans de se reconstruire et de transformer leurs peines en force grâce a un cursus de 6 mois à l’issue duquel elles obtiennent un diplôme et un micro-crédit pour démarrer une activité professionnelle en relation avec la formation qu’elles auront reçues. L’objectif de la City of Joy est aussi de « transformer » les survivantes de violences sexuelles afin qu’elles deviennent des leaders dans leur communauté. Malheureusement, après son passage à la City of Joy, sur le chemin du retour vers Bunyakiri, Madame Solange tombe dans une embuscade de la tristement célèbre milice Raia Mutomboki, elle est capturée et à nouveau violée par plusieurs hommes. Elle parvient à s’échapper, mais elle est enceinte. Pour survivre, elle fait le commerce d’une bière locale, mais elle est locataire et doit scolariser les enfants. C’est difficile. C’est dans ce contexte que la Fondation Panzi et le Centre Olame l’identifie et décide de lui construire une maison. 
Pour ce projet, 5000 USD ont suffi à la construction et à la réhabilitation des maisons qui ont été réalisées avec des matériaux locaux et peu coûteux.
